Meta Tag Generator

Build a page’s HTML head tags from your own copy. Set the canonical and sharing fields, review the generated markup and paste it into your website’s head template.

1. Describe the page

Use a public image URL. It is included in the markup, never fetched for this preview.

Enter your own copy. Values are not saved between visits.

How to use it.

  1. Write a descriptive page title and summary. Enter the preferred absolute page URL if a canonical is needed.
  2. Add optional Open Graph details, a public image URL and Twitter Card settings. Choose robots directives deliberately.
  3. Generate and review the escaped markup, copy it or download a text file. Replace existing equivalents rather than adding duplicates.

A practical example.

For a new service page, describe the actual service and its audience. Use its final HTTPS URL as the canonical. A different social title can be useful for sharing, while an image URL should point to a publicly accessible image. This tool does not fetch or verify that image.

What the tags mean.

The title element names the page; the description can help describe a search result but is not a direct Google ranking factor. Google may rewrite titles and snippets. Canonical is a preference signal rather than a guarantee. Open Graph and Twitter Card tags describe shared links. Character counts are guidance for editing, not fixed Google limits.

Know the limits.

This tool assembles markup; it does not audit a URL, write your copy, verify indexing, fetch images or predict exact search/social appearance. The preview is illustrative text only. Inputs remain in this page’s memory and are not saved between visits. Maximum field lengths are practical input safeguards, not SEO rules.

Generation and text preview run locally. Supplied URLs are not fetched. Copy or download your markup before leaving the page.

MORE DETAIL

Common questions.

Where should I put the generated code?

Inside the page’s head element. If your CMS or SEO plugin already creates these tags, update its fields instead of adding a duplicate block. Inspect the published page source afterward.

Does a meta description improve rankings directly?

No. Google says it does not use the description meta tag as a direct ranking signal. A useful description may help people understand a result, but Google can use other page text.

Does noindex protect a private page?

No. It is an indexing directive, not access control. Use authentication for private content and review existing meta tags and HTTP headers before publishing.

Will the preview look exactly like Google or WhatsApp?

No. It is a labelled illustration of your text. Platforms choose layouts, images and snippets and may cache older content.
